Tool and Die Protection System
Description
ISB’s Tool and Die Protection systems help to prevent costly
die damage and machine downtime on various types of machinery such as punch presses,
eyelet machines, assembly machines, etc. This is accomplished by utilizing one of
ISB’s tool and die monitoring controllers along with a variety of electronic and
mechanical sensors installed in and around the tooling. Sensors are available to
monitor events such as part transfer, part ejection, die shut height, feed progression,
end of material, stock buckle, and misfeed. Once these sensors are connected to the
appropriately configured ISB die protection input, any malfunctions such as failed
part ejection, misfeeds, material run-out, stock buckle, etc. will be detected and
the machine will be signaled to stop before die damage occurs.
The Resolver-Based Press Control (RBPC) is a complete Press Control
and Automation Controller equipped with die protection capability. This product can utilize
any of the ISB supplied die protection sensors, as well as most off-the-shelf proximity
and photoelectric sensors from your favorite supplier that operate at 12-24 VDC and that
have an N-P-N or current Sinking type output.
